Lagenda Pulau Langkawi

Pulau Langkawi mengikut cerita orang dahulu, pernah menjadi padang jarak padang terkukur kerana disumpah oleh seorang wanita yang bernama Mahsuri

Mahsuri binti Pandak Mayah telah dihukum bunuh pada 1235 Hijrah bersamaan 1819 Masihi akibat fitnah 

Mahsuri  binti Pandak Mayah merupakan seorang gadis kelahiran Pulau Langkawi, beliau dilahirkan oleh pasangan pakdak Mayah dan Mak Andam pada penghujung kurun ke 18 Masihi

Mahsuri dikahwinkan dengan pahlawan iaitu Wan Derus iaitu adik kepada wakil sultan Langkawi iaitu Dato Perkerma Jaya dan dan Wan Mahkota isterinya

Sepeninggalan beliau dari berperang, Mahsuri dikhabarkan tinggal bersama ibu dan bapanya, Kehadiran seorang penyair yang menetap di rumah ibubapa Mahsuri iaitu Deramang menjadi bahan fitnah orang iaitu kakak iparnya sendiri iaitu Wan Mahora

Kelahiran anak Mahsuri Wan Hakim menjadi bahan fitnah mengatakan beliau bermukah/ hubungan sulit dengan Deramang

Sehingga mereka berdua dihukum bunuh oleh Dato Pekermajaya diatas desakan dan hasutan isteriny Wan Mahora yang cemburu dengan Mahsuri

Sebelum Mahsuri dihukum bunuh, beliau bersumpah bahawa Tanah Langkawi akan menjadi padang jarak padang terkukur selama 7 keturunan

"Pulau Langkawi tidak akan aman dan makmur sehingga tujuh keturunan"

Selama 7 keturunan pulau langkawi menjadi pandang jarak padang terkukur sehingga habis sumpahan

Sehingga Lahirnya Wan Aisyah waris keturunan ketujuh maka  tamatlah sumpahan Mahsuri dan barulah Pulau Langkawi menjadi salah satu tempat pelancongan yang terkenal di Malaysia dan luar negara

Dikatakan selepas Mahsuri Mati Pulau Langkawi menjadi padang jarak padang terkukur dimana lebih banyak kerbau dari manusia 

Selain Kisah Lagenda Mahsur, terdapat tempat yang menarik boleh dilawati pendek kata sehari tidak cukup untuk meneroka sejarah dan aktiviti yang ada disana
